Getting Old

I love old Barns. Teresa took this photo this fall. If you take a drive through farm country it’s common to see old barns, getting older. Very cool.

It’s about to snow ... it looks like last weekend on steroids. Be safe.

Barn: Needs love

FullSizeRender.jpg

I took this photo last weekend. This barn is in need of some love. It seems that most barns are in need of some love. This shot looks and feels like winter. It was cloudy, cold and felt like snow was coming. It was one of those days when the mositure in the airs makes it feel extra cold outdoors.

By the way, the two black dots about half way down on the left ... geese. They were just passing by.

This old barn

This old barn is located on Statler Road, just east of Piqua. It needs some attention, and not just from my camera. Try this: close your eyes and image a time in the past when this barn was an important part of life. It would have been especially busy at this time of year. In my mind’s eye, I can see a busy family. Kids playing in the yard while everyone is busy preparing for winter.

Today so much of what we called ‘farming’ has been commercialized. When you drive around here, you see barns like this often. They need repairs that are not justifiable, leaving the structure unsafe. In some way, still beautiful, holding the dreams of a past generation.

I have a number of pictures of old barns across Ohio. Some are in bad shape, but they all have a story to tell. I’d like to publish a book on some of the more interesting stories and photos of barns. I may get to that.

This one is on the bike path just north of the Tipp City Park in, you guessed it, Tipp City, Ohio.
