Great Blue Details

DSC_5409.jpeg

I can’t believe the details and colors in this photo. Yes, its another Great Blue Heron ‘standing on one leg’ photo. What excites me about this photo is the great colors, and the depth of the details. It is so beautiful. Those eyes .. wow.

I seem to get the best blue heron photos when we hiked at Grand Lake St Marys. We were actually in the car when I captured this photo, but so very close. I guess I was less of a threat from the car.

I don’t think it will be long until we see young geese here. ~ Rick

Resting?

DSC_5104.jpeg

I see this frequently: A Great Blue Heron standing on one leg. I don’t get it. Is this a way to rest the other leg? Perhaps they find this relaxing? I certainly would not stand on one leg while overlooking a fishing pond and waiting for breakfast. 😬

Redhead Ducks

DSC_0022.jpeg

We captured these photos of these Redhead diving ducks last week. I captured the first photo of this solo duck. Teresa capture the second photo. In the middle of her shot, you see two males with their red heads, and the female located right below them in the photo.

Less(er) Or More

DSC_5032.jpeg

We saw this Lesser Scaup while hiking at Hobart Urban Nature Preserve this week. This duck migrates .. and yes, the migration continues to build. I can’t wait to see what we see this week.
