This is the story of the photo I missed this week. I was taking photos on the banks of the Stillwater River. I decided to fly my drone for a few minutes. So, here I am .. the drone is hovering about 1 to 2 meters above the river, it’s been raining, and everything is slippery. I came close to landing on my backside a couple times, but I am still on my feet.
Suddenly, I see a very large bird comming up the river, flying just below the tops of the trees. At first, I thought it could be a turkey vulture. I have seen them there many times. As I got focused, I could see it was a Bald Eagle. I could not use my phone, because it was connected to the drone. I could not move the drone to a better place to take a picture, and there was no way I could get my camera. So, I missed the most amazing photo.
All that said, it was an amazing view, and I am grateful to have seen her flying so close to where I was standing. I’m also grateful she ignored me and my drone.
