I love the detail in this photo of this Widow Skimmer.
I am a big fan of this skimmer (and most of them). Why? They eat mosquitoes.
Widow Skimmers are predators that prey on other insects such as mosquitoes. They catch their prey using their legs and use their fangs to bring prey into their mouth. Wikipedia.
That sounds like something stright out of SciFi. I am glad they are only a couple of inches long. Imagine if they were people size. No thanks.
