Mallards

We are seeing more Mallards recently. This seemes to be that time of year when they are more active. These were not great photos, but I do love their color.

Great Blue In The Fog

I have seen a few Great Blue Herons along the Miami River frequently over the past couple weeks but this was a foggy morning and made for an interesting photo. She did not stick around long. The second photo was shorlty after the first.

Just Hanging Out

This year we have seen several Great Blue Heron in trees over various rivers. Over the years I have seen them near a nest but these were not near a nest.

The Egret

I was ready this time. We were looking for Eagles, but there it was .. a Great Egret. I missed the shot last time but I was ready ...

A little note about the Egret:

... generally long-legged wading birds, that have white or buff plumage, developing fine plumes (usually milky white) during the breeding season. Egrets are not a biologically distinct group from herons and have the same build. (wikipedia)

Young Mallards

We came across these two young Mallards while hiking last week. They were very comfortable with us, so we just shot a few photos and then left them alone.
