A woodpecker, on the hunt for insects. That constant pounding would give me a headache, but it is a way of life for the woodpecker. The tapping is not just how they hunt, it is also how the woodpecker excavate nest cavities in trees.
This was taken early one morning at Kiser Lake State Park. It was late in the fall, and the mist coming off the lake was beautiful.
