This looks like it was an easy shot, but it wasn’t. It was early in the morning, and the weather was improved over the previous day. The sky was blue, and I was sure it was a good day to photograph a few of my feathered friends. I have seen several cardinals this week, but every time I would be about to snap the photo, they would take off, or they would land in a spot where the photo was just not possible.
So I was very excited when I saw this beautiful cardinal on the top of this dead tree. The problem was how far away he was. That is not uncommon, but there was something that made this photo challenging. In the end, I was able to capture one of my better cardinal photos of the year. There is something surreal about this dead tree ‘hosting’ this very alive cardinal, even if but for a few fleeting moments of time.
A story about my me and my photography will be in the Sidney, Ohio newspaper on Monday. I’ll share more info about that article and an upcoming event in Sidney on June 30 soon. I will be displaying and selling some of my photography that day. I hope I can see a few of my friends at the event. Details will be posted here soon.
