The weather was mild on Wednesday, so we took a hike. We walked one of the trials at Stillwater Prairie Reserve. We didn’t see many birds, but I did catch this Carolina Chickadee hanging around near the fishing pond. This is the second time I have seen this species this fall. I will just say this: they are hard to catch in a photo. They dart around and are relatively small.
The Carolina Chickadee are found in a large range, covering some 2 million square kilometers. I read that there is an estimated 18 million of them. Not bad for this small bird. (iBird App Facts).
