In The Moment

IMG_1450.jpeg

These trees caught my eye as we hiked earlier this week. They really stand out against the clouds.

A couple weeks ago, we saw a deer in this same location. The beautiful thing about nature is how it is always changing. Every time you look at some landscape you see new beauty. Perhaps it was there before, but when nature presents it this time, it peeks a renewed interest.

This time it was the trees and clouds, the next time, it may be some butterfly or other wildlife. The best way to discover natures beauty is to get outdoors and see her beauty ... Let her take you away. Be in the moment. Yes, shut down Facebook, twitter or whatever and really soak in what nature has fo you today.

Near Perfect Weather

The first week of August is in the books. The weather has been almost perfect, at least for the last few days. We logged a lot of hiking miles this week. I walked over 58 miles this past week. Some of that was not hiking for photos, but I did log a lot of miles. Last month I walked 256 miles. Yes, I am crazy. When I see views like the two below, I know it was worth every mile.

Both of these photos were taken at Maple Ridge Reserve. To get to this open prairie, you have to walk through the forest. The trees create a beautiful green canopy. On days like this one, as you clear the trees, your view is wildflowers, grass and an amazing blue sky, dotted with puffy white clouds. This trail is perfect for hiking. Not too hard, not too easy. It is one of my favorite hikes in Miami County.

Look Up

Sometimes the best photo is taken when you just look up! That blue sky was so beautiful on Christmas day. I had to capture it, and the trees just made for a great photo.
