In The House

This House Wren seemed to want his photo taken. He moved around a little, but never flew away. We took a few photos, then we moved on .. she stayed.

A Better Photo …

Adjustments.jpeg

I love this time of year. It is not uncommon for us to return to a hiking location and see the same birds after missing a shot on a previous visit / hike.

This is one of those birds that I photographed previously, but the photo was just not great. I posted a photo of a Carolina Wren last week. It was not a bad photo. We went back this past weekend and I saw this one. This is a much better photo. I love it.

Sing It Loud

Adjustments.jpeg
Adjustments.jpeg

This is a Carolina Wren. He was jumping from branch to branch, making this a difficult shot. Beautiful bird with a beautiful song.

A little more about this cool bird:

There are seven recognized subspecies across the range of these wrens and they differ slightly in song and appearance. The birds are generally inconspicuous, avoiding the open for extended periods of time. When out in the open, they investigate their surroundings and are rarely stationary. After finding a mate, pairs maintain a territory and stay together for several years. Both sexes give out alarm calls, but only males sing to advertise territory. Carolina wrens raise multiple broods during the summer breeding season ... (Wikipedia)
