Keeping A Low Profile

The lighting and shadows really did not help with this photo. I believe this is a Double-crested Cormorant. Most of their body is underwater so it's really a difficult one for me.

Nature Is Kind, Sometimes

Sometimes you are just in the right place, at the right time. We were hiking along the trail near the West Marina at Grand Lake St Marys when out of no where this beautiful Great Blue Heron took off. I shot the first photo as it flew away. We watched as it flew up the shore some distance before we lost siight of him. I was farily certian he did not go far.

A short distance up the trail, we spoted him .. just waiting for us. I shot a few photos, as did Teresa. Nature is kind sometimes.

Good To See You

The last time were were at Grand Lake St Marys, we did not see any Great Blue Herons. Well, maybe we saw one flying, but normally we see several along the shores of the lake.

On our last visit we saw seveal. Enjoy the photos of these beautiful creatures.

Love the Pelicans

We tried to make it to Grand Lake St Marys ealier this year to photograph the American White Pelicans but missed them. We were there a couple weeks ago and found out they were in the area, but we didn't get to see them. This was our lucky week.

Wood Ducks On The Run

I have been watching and photographing these Wood Duck for seveal weeks. They have been holding out at the Overlook Pond at Stillwater Prairie Reserve. They don't seem to like me taking photos of them so I continued to try. They are gone now.

I don't think I have ever seen a duck move as quickly across the surface of a pond as fast as the one in this top photo. I guess I totally freaked her out.

I didn't see any adult males when taking photos of these wood ducks. Only the female and her young.
