A Stare-down

We stopped to feed the birds at biigwoods and saw this faceoff. This White-breasted Nuthatch and Downy Woodpecker came face to face and locked in a stare-down. After a while, the nutatched flinched and it was over. Cute.

Which Way Is Up?

It was sure fun watching this White-breasted Nuthatch working his way down this tree while looking for a snack. Yes, he is upside down.

Sunflower Seed Secured

As I have said before, we stop at a local reserve most mornings to feed the birds. The feeders also give us a place to watch the birds.

Today we had fun watching as this pole served as a gym for this White-breasted Nuthatch. I guess she likes the sunflower seeds.

Nutty

When I took this photo I didn't notice it was a White-breasted Nuthatch. I usually see them on the side of some large tree in a vertical climb .. not this time. 😂
