It is that time of year when the weather can't make up it's mind. On this particular day it was like spring. I did not expect to see this beautiful Variegated Fritillary Butterfly. What a surprise.

We were at Big Woods driving between bird feeders when I saw this Great Blue Heron in a tree over one of the ponds. I guess she could not see the no-fishing sign.😂! I took a couple of quick photos then before I could finish she took off. I like this photo.

I have never see a Red-winged Blackbird this late into the season. I think I have mentioned it before but at some point this fall we were not seeing any ... then they seemed to reappear. This was taken this week, October 2024. IT wasa real surprise.

I find Song Sparrows like this one to be beautiful. Maybe its their song, maybe its the small size and simple beauty. I sure love watching them.
