There is something special about the Eastern Towhee .. I say it all the time, this is one of my favorite birs, but so is ... yes, they are all my favorite bird.

We were walking on a trail at Stillwater Prairie Reserve when we heard the very distint call of a Eastern Towhee. We stopped to look for it, but just could not locate him. At some point I just looked up .. I mean stright up. There it was, right over our heads. Too funny.

I love seeing a Eastern Towhee. I noticed that on their web site, Cornell Labs describes them as a large sparrow. I guess I can see that but I have never seen a sparrow as protective of their space as the male towhee.
