Hawk Timeout

I would have missed this Red-tailed Hawk but Teresa saw him land in a nearby tree. We were just driving down a country road when she saw her. So, what do we do .. of course we stop the car in the middle of the road and start taking photos. Lucky for us there was not traffic so we had time to get a few photos.

Where Did She Go?

Some photos are just not meant to be. We saw this hawk near where were were photographing but sadly she took off befoe we could capture a photo. As were were driving away, I spotted her in a tree .. but boy, it was a long shot. Normally, I can capure shots like this due to the lens I use, but Teresa captured the top two photos and they are great. When we finished, she was still in this same spot.

Lunch Break?

Once again, it was unfortunate that I did not capture a video. I saw this Red-tailed Hawk drop on a prey in the grass. I could not see anthing for a while, then saw her fly up into this tree. I did not see anything in its talons. Amazing to watch.

In the past I have refered to all bald eagles under the age of four as Juvenile, but this article to clarify the distinction between Juvenile & Immature Bald Eagles. Have a read .. it's excellent.
