At Work

I love the American Goldfinch. Here is a little fact:

American Goldfinches breed later than most North American birds. They wait to nest until June or July when milkweed, thistle, and other plants have produced their fibrous seeds, which goldfinches incorporate into their nests and also feed their young. (Sourse: All about birds)

Just Golden

DSC_0918.jpeg

The weather was perrfect for hiking, so on this day about three weeks ago we hiked to an overlook platform at Stillwater Prairie Reserve. I have never seen that much from this location, but on this day we saw a lot of wildlife. It was mostly birds and butterflies, but wow ... so much beauty. This Goldfinch was actively pollinating. The Getaway

Teresa was trying to caputre a photo of these two American Goldfinch but they decided to exit the scene. She still managed to caputre this interesting photo as they flew away. Great capture.

Yummy .. Seeds

Adjustments.jpeg

I enjoy watching the Goldfinch. This is prime nesting time for them right now.

This is a female. The males have more bright yellow color. This one was feasting its favorite foods: Seeds. Ultimately she doing her part to spread seeds for next spring.

I Missed!

public.jpeg

I missed. Yes, there was a bird right there. I pulled up the camera, locked the focus, and squeezed the button ... and I missed. I still love this image, but the bird .. she was gone.

Sometimes you take a shot and miss. Many times, it still comes out great. They say that Michael Jordan said this:

“I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” ~ Michael Jordan

I understand ..
