Never Gets Old

I am sure I have said this a few dozen times and I'll say it again: This never gets old. I can never take too many Cardinal photos. They are beautiful and so special. Sometimes the photos are not perfect but I keep taking photos as I try to capture the stunning beauty of these amazing bird.

Winter’s Bite, Hunger’s Flight

This is not the best photo I have taken of a female Northern Cardinal but it was sure good to see her. She was feasting on something in the grass.

Peace And Comfort

It has been a while since we saw a male cardinal. I guess it has been a couple of weeks anyway.

A very good friend passed away this week and seeing this cardinal just felt peaceful.

Smile

We are still seeing a lot of cardinals. This one flew accross the trail just a few feet in front of us, then stopped long enough for this photo. If you look close, I think he smiled for the camera. 😬

Not As Bright: But As Beautiful

DSC_5591.jpeg

This cardinal was a lot of fun. I saw her as we hiked torward the River J. Shook Bikeway Bridge. She was setting on the wood rails. As I lifted the camera to photograph her .. well, you know what happens. She flew away.

It looked like she just flew into the grass, so I walked over to the side of the trail to take a look. Nothing. I didn’t want to give up, so I waked to the large dropoff where the bridge begins. Looking down I saw nothing,

Suddenly saw her in a nearby tree. This time she waited long enough for me to capture a few photos. The female cardinal is not nearly as bright as the male, but they are beautiful.
