I have a few butterfly photos I have not posted. The weather is changing fast and I doubt we will see any more until next spring. This is a Painted Lady. We saw a few of them this past week. I will miss their colors .. until next spring.

I watched this Hairy Woodpecker fly into the top of a nearby tree, and then I spent the next 15 minutes attepting to capture a good photo of him. They sure look a lot like a downy woodpoecker. The downy has a shorter beak. Very cool.

Even the American Goldfinch need to stop for a snack. I didn't count but I think there was about 4 of them having a great time.

These are photos I took in the last day or so. It was very cold and ice has started to form on both the Miami River and this fishing pond at Big Woods Reserve. The wind was not nice to hikers today!

I am really surprised that we are still seeing Buckeye Butterflies. This one was in the grass at the edge of the hiking trail. She still has great color!
