Wow, Looks Cold

I continue to take early morning walks along the river. It has been in the low 20s (F) but when I walk fast, it's not too bad. Now, I don't know how these geese feel about this weather. I didn't try to count them, but this was just one of a few photos full of geeese. As I approached, they would get up and head into the river. That is nuts.

Bring On The Ice

These are photos I took in the last day or so. It was very cold and ice has started to form on both the Miami River and this fishing pond at Big Woods Reserve. The wind was not nice to hikers today!

Spring? 🥶

DSC_5556.jpeg

The weather is confused ... yes, it is spring. The trees are budding and I have already cut the grass once. Then it gets cold again. Oh well. Stay warm.

Don’t ask me what this had to do with this Blue Jay photo. I shot this near the Miami River last week .. on a warmer day.

This is a Red-headed Woodpecker. Yes, the red is gone. I think he (or she) was molting, but its a little late in the season for that. I still think its a red-headed woodpecker.

The deep freeze or the fast thaw

IMG_0401.JPG

You can’t tell it by this photo, but the freeze has let up, and we are in a serious thaw. We don’t see a freeze like this often, but it has a unique beauty.

If you watch the video (below), you will see this same creek after it thawed out. It is flowing again, and life goes on. Have a good week!
