We have not seen many American Robins recently. This week they seem to be back. I am so excited for spring.

There are few things I love more than a walk in nature in the spring when the birds are singing .. loudly. It is just beautiful. This Song Sparrow sure was making the best of this early spring day. Part of the choir!

Last week we saw the male Hooded Merganser in the small creek near this pond. Today he was hanging out with his date in the pond. It is spring, so perhaps they are nesting nearby .. or just on a hot date.

Teresa captured this photo of this male Downy Woodpecker while hiking earlier this week. Now that the weather is mild and temperatures on increasing we are seeing less of them. This one is not climbing a big tree.
